An updated version of Currency, the exchange rate application from Kevin Wells, has been released. Version 1.14 doesn’t contain any updates to the program itself or its functionality, but is instead a small update to ensure it continues to work with the remote site from which it gets its data and sends user requests.
The application uses Wget to send user requests to, and receive data from The Free Currency Converter API website – and a new API (application programmer interface) key was necessary to keep the software running.
Kevin thinks this may now be a monthly requirement for the free account, which Currency uses, so to avoid having to release a monthly update he may consider changing the software to use another site offering a similar service – if you know of any, please let him know.
